1. About Farmdoor
Farmdoor is a community platform where backpackers and working holiday makers in New Zealand can share employer reviews, browse job listings, and participate in discussion forums. Farmdoor does not employ, recruit, or place workers.
2. Accounts
- You must provide a username and password to create an account. Email is optional.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You may only create one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent moderation or manipulate content is prohibited.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. See our Privacy Policy for details on what happens to your data.
3. User content
“User content” means any reviews, ratings, forum posts, replies, or other material you submit to Farmdoor.
- You retain ownership of the content you create. By posting it on Farmdoor, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and store your content as part of operating the platform.
- You may only post content that you have the right to share. Do not post copyrighted material belonging to others without permission.
4. Review guidelines
Reviews are the core of Farmdoor. To keep them useful and trustworthy:
- Be honest. Reviews should reflect your genuine, first-hand experience working for or with the employer.
- Be specific. Describe what happened, when, and what the working conditions were like.
- No fabricated reviews. Do not post reviews for employers you have not worked for.
- No incentivised reviews. Do not accept payment, discounts, or other benefits in exchange for posting a review.
- No defamation. Honest criticism is welcome. False statements of fact presented as truth are not.
- No personal attacks. Review the employer and the working experience, not individual people by name.
All reviews are held for moderation before publication. Farmdoor reserves the right to reject or remove reviews that violate these guidelines.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Post spam, advertising, or promotional content.
- Impersonate another person or organisation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ accounts or to Farmdoor’s systems.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the platform in a way that degrades the service for others.
- Post content that is illegal under New Zealand law, including content that is defamatory, discriminatory, or that incites violence.
6. Employer claims
Employers (or their representatives) can request to claim their employer page on Farmdoor. Claims are reviewed and approved or declined by Farmdoor administrators. Claiming a page allows the employer to respond to reviews.
- Approval is at Farmdoor’s sole discretion. We do not guarantee that any claim will be approved.
- Claiming a page does not give the employer the ability to remove or edit user reviews.
- Employer responses to reviews are publicly visible but do not identify the individual who manages the employer page.
7. Moderation
Farmdoor moderates content to maintain the quality and safety of the platform. We reserve the right to:
- Remove or edit content that violates these terms.
- Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these terms.
- Reject reviews, forum posts, or employer claims at our discretion.
8. Disclaimer
Farmdoor is a platform for user-generated content. We do not verify the accuracy, completeness, or truthfulness of reviews, job listings, or forum posts. Content on Farmdoor represents the opinions and experiences of individual users and should not be taken as professional advice.
Farmdoor is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available, error-free, or secure at all times.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Farmdoor and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to decisions made based on reviews or job listings.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will indicate the new date at the top of this page. Continued use of Farmdoor after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Farmdoor are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
12. Contact
